Summary:
The Solution Architect (SA) is a senior level position that facilitates the sale and delivery of Teradata data warehouse solutions within Retail Industry Major Accounts. In this role, The SA has great opportunity to make a significant contribution to the long term successful partnership between Teradata and these accounts.
The SA assists with the positioning of Teradata solutions and professional
services
within the account to drive business value. The SA establishes or enhances mid- and high-level customer relationships and develops a trusted advisor role with his/her accounts both during the pre-sales cycle and during the post-sale implementation. The SA provides technical expertise and leadership on engagements including broad data warehouse implementation experience and knowledge of decision support architectures.
Teradata SA's are part of account teams - Triads - that typically consist of the SA, an Account Executive (Sales) and an Industry Consultant (Functional and process consulting.) These individuals work together to position, sell and deliver solutions for Retail customers.

Responsibilities:
Provide direct and substantial support of the team's revenue and margin objectives by:
Participating in the demand creation, development and execution of winning sales strategies.
Assisting with account qualification utilizing knowledge of industry solutions, data models & data volumes for the various types of companies in their industry, and applying this knowledge to determine applicability of Teradata, Teradata Aster, Hadoop, Teradata Applications (Aprimo, and eCircle) products, solutions, and services
Understanding, documenting and articulating the customer's current data warehouse/data mart architecture. This includes a complete inventory of the customer's data warehouses and datamarts as well as their respective business functions.
Designing and developing architecture to help address customer's analytical needs.
Being able to differentiate Teradata from competitive offerings of Oracle Exadata, IBM Netezza, Cloudera, SAP, etc.
Being a trusted advisor to the customer's decision-makers by establishing credibility and expertise in data warehouse technology/architecture and other areas related to Teradata's solution offerings.
Demand creation for services business and Teradata applications
Designing, leading and executing winning competitive database benchmarks.
Participating in PS engagements that position Teradata as a trusted adviser to our customers.
Being able to direct RFI and RFP responses
Being able to define, create and gain approval for Teradata hardware/software configurations
Skills & Attributes:
The position requires a number of specific skills, including:
Strong business and/or technical analysis background
Experience in consulting with senior-level executives
Expert knowledge of Teradata products including SQL
Knowledge and experience with building and designing Data Warehouses and Data Marts from a technical perspective
Proposal Development and Service Offering Scoping/Project Definition
Benchmark design, development and execution
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, analytical and problem solving skills

Candidates should meet the following qualifications and requirements:
Five years or more of operational or technical RDBMS experience in data warehouse implementation
Client interface and consulting skills required
Teradata technical experience and SQL expertise is highly desirable
Proven capabilities in relational database technology in the application development environment (Teradata, DB2, Oracle) and working knowledge of third party GUI and data transformation tools (Cognos, Business Objects, Tableau, Informatica and others)
Solid understanding of current and emerging data warehousing topics
BA or BS in Business or
computer
Science (MBA or MS is preferable) or equivalent work experience
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience in architecting and implementing multi-terabyte data warehouse solutions
Skilled in data modeling including logical and physical model implementation, data flow processes and semantic modeling
Teradata Certifications - Master highly desirable
Lead Teradata Development projects
Scope and Work Environment:
The Solution Architect will work from a virtual (home) office, some travel is required. Ideal location would be in the Minneapolis, Chicago or Milwaukee area.
