Job Description:
We are looking for a Project Manager with Ag facilities construction experience.
Positions summary for the PM Ag Facilities Construction:
Under the general direction of the President the primary responsibilities of the Project Manager (PM) are to have overall responsibility of projects which include organizing, planning, scheduling and controlling the fieldwork and be responsible for getting the projects completed within the time and cost limitations.
The PM attends to change orders, project budgets, records, payment requests, progress schedules, shop drawings, and samples and acts as the principal liaison between the contractor and the owner and its representatives. The PM provides a focal point for all facets of the project and brings together the efforts of those organizations having input into the construction process.
The PM coordinates matters relevant to the project and expedites project operations by dealing directly with the individuals and organizations involved. In any such situation where events progress rapidly and decisions must be consistent and informed, the specific leadership of one person is needed. Because the PM has overall responsibility, the PM must have broad authority over all elements of the project.
The agriculture facilities nature of construction is such that the PM must often take action quickly on his/her own initiative and it is necessary that the PM be empowered to do so. To be effective, the PM must have full control of the job and be the one voice that speaks for the project. Project Management is a function of executive leadership and provides the cohesive force that binds the several diverse elements into a team effort for project completion.
Essential
Responsibilities:
Understand the strategy, vision and expansion model of the organization including a thorough understanding of company's business; be aware of and help to enforce organizational policies and best practice procedures.
Consistently support the general direction, initiatives and specific final decisions of the Management Team in all aspects of the business; use influence sensitively to garner cooperation of management and co-workers.
Generate goodwill for the organization and its management among staff, clients, suppliers, referral sources, regulatory bodies, the general community and others pertinent to the business; demonstrate a strong commitment to client service and service excellence.
Organize, plan, schedule, control the fieldwork, and have overall responsibility for getting projects completed within the time and cost limitations through communication with the superintendent.
Actively pursue new projects and provide advice on upcoming opportunities and work with estimator on costs to complete.
Review contracts and specifications and prepare construction schedules, sub-contracts, purchase orders, RFI, RFQ, transmittals, meeting minutes, daily logs and CTC. Maintain a minimum of three RFQ's before making a purchase or sub-contracts.
Review/Redline of all construction and equipment approval drawings for the project and provide relevant information and guidance to drafter/designer. Responsible for making sure all drawings leaving the office are certified issue for construction.
Perform regular site visits; meet with clients, document data and information throughout the project. Act as the principal liaison between the contractor and the owner and its representatives. Review man hours and construction schedules while on site.
Present and obtain Change Orders from client for items outside the scope of work prior to doing the work.
Procure materials and deliveries for projects; rent equipment either owned or 3rd party and associated costs.
Communicate daily with the General and Site Superintendent and Site Foreman regarding work schedule, scope of work, materials and equipment and alert them to any problems.
Communicate regularly with owner, site representative, plant supervisor and subcontractors and coordinate information about projects with management when requested.
Stay apprised of employee schedules via Site Superintendent and how that may affect progress of the project.
Be alert to and aware of safety issues on the job and enforce safety protocol to ensure compliance.
Recognize areas of opportunity for cost savings while maintaining safety and quality.
Promote growth, education, safety and expanding the talents of company's workforce.
Display a willingness to work the time necessary to accomplish a task or project.
Work daily and effectively to balance multiple projects, prioritize workload, and changing plans through self management and productive communication with the Management Team regarding needs for support.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position; must be available by cell phone during projects.
Minimum Education and
Experience:
Four (4) years of college education or relevant work experience, preferably in construction management and blueprint reading with five years of experience in construction management with emphasis on industrial / agricultural. Experience in one or more of the following industries is preferred:
Renewable (Ethanol, Biodiesel, Cellulosic, Wind, Anaerobic Digestion, Fractionization, Solid Waste, etc.)
Agricultural (Feedmills, Soybean, Grain Elevators, Grain Storage, Fertilizer, Livestock, Seed, Flour, Sugar Beets, etc.)
Industrial (Bakery, Cement, Food/Beverage, Pneumatics, Solid Waste, Mining, Plastics, Coal, Barge Loading/Unloading, Malting, Rendering, Ingredient Mfg, Paper Mill, Power Plants, Pre-Engineered Buildings, etc.)
Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license with proof of insurance.
Specific knowledge, skills and personal abilities required:
Knowledge of theory, practice and procedures of construction management, equipment and materials.
Demonstrated skill and proficiency with Windows-based computer applications (specifically Word and Excel) and other industry-related software & office equipment including Viewpoint PM & Auto CAD software--Microsoft Project.
Excellent conceptual thinking skills and the ability to identify and analyze issues and problems and to use independent judgment to make decisions, and to recommend and/or implement solutions.
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree in construction management or similar preferred.

years of experience in construction management with emphasis on industrial agricultural.
3. Experience in one or more of the following industries is preferred:
