The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is a key role in the Current Products Engineering group. This visible position will directly impact the organization''s bottom line through the execution of business critical engineering and quality projects. Cross functional collaboration, project management, leadership and in depth knowledge of engineering/quality tools are crucial for success in this self-directed role. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Designing and analyzing components, sub-systems and full machines while applying internal and regulatory standards to designs with significant latitude for validations of technical solutions
Collaborating with manufacturing engineering, Tennant Sales and Service, and suppliers on key production and quality issues
Mining quality and warranty data for continuous improvement opportunities; scope and execute projects to improve product offering to key customer and control warranty costs
Executing key engineering and quality projects using appropriate Six Sigma and 8D tools and processes
Supporting released products through end of life including design optimization, test validation, ECO processing and supplier engineering support
Ensuring the technical accuracy of design work and the work of any project members including tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, CAD layouts and drawings, and accurate documentation
Staying abreast of engineering techniques, processes, and best practices as they affect design assignments on Tennant Company products

Required Experience
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 6 years of experience OR Master's Degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 4 years of experience

Required Skills and
Experience:
2-3 years of experience leading design or manufacturing projects
4-6 years of experience leading, motivating, and working in a cross-functional team environment
Previous experience with 3D CAD software (ie Unigraphics / Solidworks) and the ability to conceptualize and direct layout of overall system design
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply statistical tools and methods to problem solving in a quality or process improvement arena
Ability to stay organized and poised while balancing multiple priorities, projects, and deliverables
Technical competency in Six Sigma skills: DMAIC, Lean, process management, change management and advanced statistical techniques preferred
