This includes supporting communication plans for sustainability, social impact and inclusion, diversity and equity.
You'll focus on providing media relations support for a variety of public relations projects, including building and maintaining relationships with reporters to effectively pitch, manage and complete news stories.
In this role, you'll help create strategic communication plans for key company initiatives by collaborating with teams across the organization.
This role is hybrid, which means you must be located within a drivable distance to the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, MN.
You may be asked to come into the office up to 3 days per week.
What you'll do Assist in the planning and execution of media relations strategies, including building media relationships with reporters, creating media lists, preparing materials and more Support external communications efforts for various business teams and their initiatives including the company's sustainable operations and the Best Buy Teen Tech Centers.
Assist with media relations work within local markets and local news outlets, including working directly with store leaders to provide media relations support.
Collaborate with business partners across the organization to find and tell Best Buy's stories Advise and media train various company spokespeople to help support the company's priorities and initiatives Basic qualifications 6 months or more of media relations, public relations, communications, or journalism experience 6 months of experience or more working in a fast-paced environment 6 months of experience or more writing and editing content for a variety of audiences and vehicles (blogs, for clients, press releases, media pitches, etc.
) Excellent writing skills Strong knowledge of AP style Preferred qualifications Bachelor's or associate degree in communications, journalism or public relations Experience meeting aggressive daily and weekly project deadlines Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment on assignments with overlapping priorities and schedules Experience working with a consumer-facing brand (PR agency, representing a client or brand, business-to-business, etc.
