Job Summary In this role, you will work to produce high quality digital audio recordings for the Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library, which serves eligible Minnesotans with print disabilities that prevent the use of printed materials.
Your duties will include:
Manage the volunteer recording program so that Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library patrons have access to high quality locally or commercially-produced books and magazines.
Facilitate the creation of digital audio recordings of locally-selected or commercial materials so that the collection is accessible to library patrons through BARD and digital cartridges.
Catalog, assign appropriate subject headings and inventory new titles selected for the recording program and collection so materials are available to library patrons.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
Experience with:
Digital audio equipment and current software programs used for recording and providing print materials in an accessible format Audio formats and taxonomy sufficient to create digital DAISY book structures.
Sophistical computer recording software to create high quality audio books Sound editing.
Volunteer recruitment, training, and management Verbal and written communication sufficient to explain sound and/or video recording and production techniques and provide training and technical assistance to volunteers, patrons and staff.
Use, access, store, retrieve and manipulate electronic files, including downloading, retrieving and transferring files from websites and computer programs.
Preferred Qualifications Digital audio production, mark up and conversion software (e.
g.
Hindenburg, LCM, APH Book Wizard Producer, APH Studio Recorder, Sony Sound Forge or similar).
Experience training volunteers in vocal reading and delivery, as well as mechanics of using the recording equipment and following recording standards' Library automation systems (KLAS or similar) Principles and practices of library science, including reference, book selection, circulation, bibliographic tools, classification, cataloging, adult and children's literature Physical Requirements Occasional lifting of 25-pound articles and frequently lifting and/or carrying objects.
