Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy & Network Operations within Global Operations & Supply Chain (GO&SC).
The Vice President of Network Strategy will be responsible for developing aspects of the GO&SC strategy & transformation to ensure Medtronic is better positioned to deliver on our commitments to our partners, our customers and our patients.
This role will be pivotal in developing site optimization strategies for GO&SC manufacturing and distribution, that focus on building strategic partnerships and making value stream-centered decisions that will leverage our scale and support Medtronic's future growth.
This role will be accountable to plan for the long term network strategy and capacity necessary to execute across an optimized manufacturing network of sites globally.
Additionally, this leader will closely partner with our mergers, acquisitions and divestitures lead for GOSC ensuring strategic leadership decisions for portfolio changes and sites decisions are incorporated into our end to end network strategy.
This is a position with travel required at approximately 60%.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Network design Responsible for developing and delivering on our manufacturing and distribution site optimization strategy, including our end-to-end network strategy/optimization initiatives, manufacturing strategy and capacity planning.

Operating Units, GO&SC partners and making value stream-centered decisions that will leverage our scale and support Medtronic's future growth.
Develop and Deploy process for Network Design and Capacity Optimization Advance our transformational strategies with respect to our manufacturing operations with optimal coordination, flexibility, and governance.
Ensuring strong relationships to provide continuity of support to strategic activities across GO&SC as our needs and activities shift and adjust with Medtronic portfolio changes.
Coordinate enabling functions and the operating units to deliver strong network design planning and execution of transformative strategies.
Assess, prioritize and sequence agreed upon network design strategic programs Responsible for make vs buy process to evaluate potential site/supplier selections based on critical guiding principles to drive balanced and optimized decisions for the corporation Serve as a strategic advisor to his/her direct manager and the Executive Vice President of GO&SC for strategic business decisions linked to network optimization and green field strategies.
Responsible for establishing strategy, ideation to planning for all programs impacting the GOSC Global Manufacturing site network Greenfield Responsible for locating Greenfield sites globally to balance demand of network and increase production capabilities Identify strategic alternatives and prioritize / align on programs that will deliver future Network design Leading and facilitating cross functional OU & GO&SC stakeholder meetings to support feasibility phases on regional/ localization Market ( Market Access) Business case development initiatives Responsible for building our capabilities across Plan, Source, Make and Deliver programs Make v Buy; OU NPD, M&A, Network optimization, Key stakeholder in representing OU Ops perspective on Make versus Buy analysis related to manufacturing network strategy decision making process, support macro design to play small in the OU Manage existing program portfolio in partnership with GO&SC leaders Capacity planning/optimization Leading programs to improve global & regional supply & manufacturing network resilience, and optimized & simplify network with enhanced capabilities at strategic manufacturing locations Responsible for defining scope, strategy, and roadmap for GOSC Product Supply Network Design program, incl.
optimization of product flow, total delivered cost, lead time, capacity, etc.
Responsible for building new capacity at existing sites and leverage our strategic contract manufacturers as needed Managing the network capacity team and ensures alignment on strategies and programs within the Operating Units and GO&SC Organizations of Medtronic.
Responsible for strategic modelling, detailed execution of due diligence and planning for all programs to deliver transformative results Responsible for capacity analysis and integration plans aligned to Market Growth in a deal model Warehouse Network Excellence Contribute to warehouse network optimization that leads to reduced operational excellence working capital, carbon emissions, and improve service and resiliency (BCP) Responsible for optimizing our distribution network and improve our customer experience, by shorten lead times, by driving changes to address single points of network failure among Medtronic's operational units, lack of capacity, and cost to sustain current network to keep up with demand.
Sterilization Responsible for long term sterilization strategy in partnership with the Operations Innovations organization meeting changing sterilization needs and regulations.
Data analytics Develop vision & execution roadmap for GO&SC analytic capability Partner with GO&SC stakeholders and teams to obtain relevant data, complete value stream mapping, perform supply chain simulations, financial analysis and prioritize strategic alternatives across value stream; scenarios will inform strategic programs to be executed and serve to optimize network performance General Build and lead a high performance-driven cross-function professional team Responsible for stakeholder alignment within GO&SC and beyond Responsible for problem solving, recognizing and mitigating risks, reducing bottlenecks that hold up progress Establishing strong relationship with OU partners, GO&SC functional leaders and the GO&SC PMO team supporting separation, manufacturing transfers and capacity expansion, and the launch of any inflight new product versions to ensure appropriate prioritization and focus to meet the needs of the business oLong term/Future Org Structure:
The Vice President Network Design and Capacity Optimization will be responsible for all the post-acquisition integration deliverables to create most value for the future of the organization by realizing efficiencies and synergies.
He/she will develop the integration strategy, set integration guiding principles and act as a champion of the vision of the integration and program management structure to create the drive needed to capture the value of the transaction.
Skillsets, Knowledge & Experience Needed Track record of driving projects to completion Deep knowledge of (Medtronic) Operations order to cash (Supply Chain, Planning, Sourcing, Manufacturing, & Distribution) Deep knowledge and understanding how systems operate across operations, quality, IT and finance Previous work experience leading programs to relocate and qualify manufacturing equipment Working knowledge of cost accounting (BOM, LBM, Cap/Ex) Excellent stakeholder management skills, across all levels in the organization, senior executives, steering committee and ExCom Strong leadership skills and proven ability to build relationships System level thinker - ability to think and drive execution around (global) complex and interconnected workstreams Strong financial and business acumen (strategic thinking, analytical, and valuation skills) and commitment to deliver strong business outcomes across the entire value stream Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate (team player) and lead others (without direct reporting) Proven ability to influence effectively cross culturally/geographically in a large global, matrix organization Ability to perform under pressure, prioritization, managing multiple projects in a very dynamic environment Critical thinking, objective analysis and evaluation of complex challenges, thinks through solutions , alternative options and knows who to involve to partner with.
