Job Summary In this role, you will work to ensure that Minnesotans with visual, physical or reading disabilities have access to high quality library services through the Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library (MBTBL) Minneapolis, MN.
Your duties will include:
Create, market and manage statewide outreach services to print disabled individuals and institutions so eligible users of all ages are aware of this program.
Research and respond to reference/reader's advisory questions so the information needs of library users of MBTBL and agency staff are met.
Assist in the selection, weeding, and assessment of the library's book and other collections and update online catalog records so the catalog and collection meet the recreational and informational reading needs of patrons.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Two or more years of library experience specializing in community/outreach services or a related area or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience include:
Demonstrated customer service skills, including the ability to work patiently, thoroughly, and accurately with patrons who may need extended assistance Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations to the public Successful track record of demonstrating creativity, flexibility, and initiative in accommodating community and patron needs Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver a diverse program of activities and perform outreach Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in library, information science or related degree Reference, readers advisory and cataloging experience Knowledge of braille Physical Requirements This position requires regular lifting, unpacking and/or carrying of such articles as print and braille books, boxes, file folders, and other similar library-related items Additional Requirements Must have a valid driving license.
