We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate maker with a scientific background.
Someone who is excited to get in the lab and help to design and create new wellness products alongside our Product Formulator.
These products include items such as lip balms, salves, soap scrubs, body butters, shower steamers, candles, cosmetics and more.
Only applicants local to the Twin Cities will be considered.
This is a full-time, in-house position.
Responsibilities:
Assist with designing and creating personal care products and essential oil blends in a collaborative laboratory environment using strong scientific, mathematical and creative skills Help to brainstorm and develop new products by initiating research to identify consumer needs and aromatherapy trends Source the Certificate of Analyses (COAs) for materials and ingredients used in product formulation Assist with designing product formulas according to aromatherapeutic properties, specific use, aroma profiles, safety and cost Conduct mathematical calculations to analyze experimental results and exact measurements Assist with oversight of lab and manufacturing processes, ensuring organization and good storage conditions of supplies and inventory, and assist with cleaning and sanitation Help to maintain formula sheets and documents for products and record keeping, maintaining quality controls and accuracy in documentation of oils used, their chemical profiles, uses, and technical descriptors Adhere to proper processes/procedures during all stages of new product development Aid in ordering specific materials and equipment to be used in development and production Troubleshoot and solve technical challenges that are typically encountered in the development of fragrance and personal care products Exercise understanding of essential oil regulation, safety, and quality standards Ability to handle being exposed to strong smells and a variety of scented products, essential oils and raw materials
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree, preferred 2
years of experience working in a lab or in products formulation Aromatherapy training and/or personal study a plus Willingness to research and learn how to formulate essential oil blends and their applications A positive attitude, passion for innovation, and a desire to work for a startup Willingness to help in all areas of manufacturing and production Excellent analytical and teamwork skills; interpersonal communication skills Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy and organization Able to stand/be on your feet for long periods of time Able to lift up to 40
