Overview
To provide maintenance support to the facility in a positive and helpful manner.
Responsibilities
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general up keep and maintenance of the Harbor Light Center. This is a full time regular position with a wage of $16/hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include, but not limited to such actions:
conflict resolution in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others property and person and appropriate communication to and about co-workers and supervisors.
Support the mission of The Harbor Light Center by treating every client and colleague with individual respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind.
Maintain a Schedule of Maintenance file for all facilities, boilers, furnaces, etc. Personally make emergency repairs whenever possible before calling in outside services
Perform light electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs as needed. Patch and paint walls and perform light carpentry. Handle general building upkeep and maintenance.
Respond to all requests for maintenance by all TSAHL staff.
Respond to all requests for maintenance at off-site TSAHL locations.
Maintain a regularly or monthly scheduled task log for all work orders.
Ensure a clean, neat and organized maintenance work area, storage area and shop.
Maintain equipment in good working order.
Ensure stock of parts that are used on a routine basis.
Proactively walk the building and inspect all areas for maintenance issues/disrepair.
Report all hazardous issues to the Facilities Manager or Operations Director immediately.
Report any personnel issues to the Facilities Manager or Operations Director for action. This includes staff time off, disciplinary action and all other support staff issues.
Be familiar with all outside maintenance vendors. Report to Facilities Manager or Operations Director when an outside vendor is needed.
Perform duties associated with kettle campaign work assignments as assigned by Corps Ministry Director throughout the kettle season.
Perform as driver for operations, kettle, and corps activities.
Consult with the Corps Chaplains for special events.
And all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with Two (2) years' practical work experience in the field of building/property maintenance with demonstrated proficiency in the use of various hand tools. Formal education/training in the area of building maintenance preferred. Must possess valid MN drivers' license. Must possess ability to stand on feet all day, lift 50 pounds on occasion and perform tasks with little or no direct supervision. Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to issues of homelessness, chemical addiction, and unemployment, racial and cultural diversity. Possess an aptitude in oral communications. Must be trustworthy, especially in confidential matters. Must personally embrace The Salvation Army Harbor Light Mission. Must be able to pass background checks, including a MVR if driving required and pre-employment drug test. It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment, and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training program must be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
