This position is responsible for interfacing directly with patients, insurance carriers, internal medical personnel, external and health care facilities via phone, mail or in person regarding outstanding account balances. Researches and resolves concerns related to billing inquiries, patient concerns or complaints with a patient-centered approach by resolving concerns timely and accurately and to promote patient satisfaction timely and efficient reimbursement. This position researches, corrects and reprocesses denied and outstanding claims submitted to insurance companies.
Duties and responsibilities may include:
Handle incoming customer service calls presented to the appropriate payer phone queue
Process claims in a work file by investigating denials and low reimbursement.
Accurately verify and register active patient insurance information in Flowcast
Audit outstanding account balances to ensure all applicable insurances have been billed and have paid or denied invoices appropriately
Handles outstanding accounts in a fast paced work environment while keeping errors to a minimum and ensuring accurate and timely account resolution while documenting appropriate account comments and resolutions
Make outgoing calls to patients, insurance companies and other areas within the organization regarding resolution to incoming inquires as well as other patient financial service inquires.
To qualify for this role, you must possess:
High School Graduate or Equivalent
2 year experience in insurance and benefits.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Automated Telephone Queue experience with insurance verification and benefit applications.
Knowledge of medical terminology, procedure and diagnosis coding.
Knowledge of Insurance Billing software applications.
Microsoft Word and Excel.
Critical thinking skills with the ability to resolve conflict and problems.
Preferred
Qualifications:
College coursework or an Associate's Degree in business administration, accounting or Health Care Billing.
Knowledge of AR performance metrics
Knowledge of ICD-9 or ICD-10 and CPT codes.
Knowledge of payer rules, policies and requirements.
Ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment with little guidance.
Ability to comprehend information and utilize it appropriately to perform job functions.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
