Education Technician

The incumbent is the principle position responsible for designing and providing training about tuition assistance programs, travel and trainee processing procedures to a wide variety of employees, staff, trainees and faculty. The incumbent manages the Tuition Assistance and Tuition Support Programs, travel budget and provides content expertise in trainee processing including monitoring of Resident Supervision for the Minneapolis VAHCS. The incumbent educates stakeholders across the institution about onboarding logistics and educational resources and support. The incumbent coordinates training space for a wide variety of programs throughout the medical center and its community based outpatient clinics. The incumbent supports the Associate Chief of Staff for Education (ACOS/E) and the Educational Program Specialist for the Education PSL. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Training of MVAHCS employees, staff, residents. and students The incumbent designs and delivers training to employees, residents, and students about processes involved in educational programs including, but not limited to:
Tuition assistance and support Trainee onboarding and off-boarding New Trainee Orientation (in support of institutional policies and priorities such as trainee supervision, patient safety initiatives, error prevention, veteran-centric care, etc.) Education service line and professional development resources (medical media, library, simulation center, etc.) Learning space and classroom scheduling process Management of the Tuition Assistance Program Manages the organization's Tuition Assistance and Tuition Support Programs. Manages the training budget and reviews and monitors expenditures within the Education training budget for these program; Actively managing several tuition assistance and tuition support fund control points. Processes all vouchers with the appropriate office and follows up when needed. Maintains a variety of excel spreadsheets in order to properly maintain funding balances for service lines in the medical center. Processes direct payments and reimbursements for courses and conferences. Determines when a bill of collection is needed from an employee who does not meet grade requirements for the tuition assistance program. Trainee Processing and Education Program Monitoring Coordinates support for complex educational programs involving multiple service lines and numerous coordinators both at the MVAHCS and at the many affiliated institutions. Maintains and updates checklists and on boarding steps. Creates new checklists and processes for training groups that transition to record management through RMS (or any other applicable platform). Serves as a designee to the Health Systems Specialist, Designated Education Officer (DEO and Designated Learning Officer (DLO). Work Schedule:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience would typically include experience performing three of the following tasks:
Providing customer service to individuals of varying positions, backgrounds, and knowledge levels; Utilization of various software programs and databases; Assisting with purchasing for a service line; Producing documents and other materials; and/or Interpreting and understanding established rules, regulations, and procedures. Physical Requirements:
The work is typically performed in an office setting, although regular lifting and moving of furniture or equipment configurations for training is involved and required. Walking, standing, bending and lifting equipment is required. Operation of a computer and other office machinery is necessary.
