Xcel Energy is seeking a Chemistry Analyst or Chemist (higher level) to support operations at Chestnut Service Center in Minneapolis, MN. Requirements and salary ranges for each level are below.
- Oil analysis experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field is preferred.
Position Summary
Position designed to develop knowledge of the following systems; water chemistry, general water treatment, lubricants, fuel chemistry, general analytical instrumentation and plant systems. Under supervision supports laboratory, plant and field chemistry operations in all aspects of chemical, biological and physical analysis and testing.
Essential Responsibilities
- Collect and prepare samples, standards and reagents for testing and analysis. Performs analysis, testing and reviews results incorporating standard QA/QC practices. Assist in maintenance and trouble shooting of instrumentation and systems. May assist in method development.
- Participates in lab and plant training to develop comprehension of analytical data and systems relationships.
- Conducts laboratory housekeeping. Responsible for maintaining chain of custody of samples.
- Performs calibration/certification of instrumentation through use of QA/QC standards and procedures. Review process parameters for compliance with control limits. Assist in correcting out of control parameters.
- Performs data entry and generates validated reports.
Minimum Requirements - Chemistry Analyst
(Hourly pay range:
$24.60 to $34.40 per hour)
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry/related science or four (4) years chemistry related work experience.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to obtain state certifications as applicable by the jurisdiction.
Minimum Requirements - Chemist
(Annual Salary Range:
$54,800 - $77,800)
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science
- 5 years related experience in power plant, electric utility or laboratory settings
