Duties were comprised of creating, maintaining and updating databases, communicating via phone with candidates and clients to update status on a regular basis and generating written
email/letter correspondence. Accurate, systematic file and record-keeping required. Performing searches for physicians of every specialty seeking new employment and locating positions for them across the United States. This involved direct contact with the physicians and communication with medical facilities in order to determine whether they would be a good match. Follow through in assisting with references, participating in negotiations, doing background checks, scheduling interviews and post-placement communication were all part of the necessary functions.

This was a home-based business consisting of recruiting and placing medical and IT/technical personnel in employment positions across the United States and internationally. Extensive office administration and secretarial duties were required as well. The events of 9/11 had a negative impact on the placement of foreign physicians which comprised a large part of the business and it became necessary to discontinue this pursuit.

Mortgage Auditing called for detailed examination of final documents for lien release purposes ensuring that the formal mortgage release paperwork accurately reflected the information and content within the recorded mortgage/deed. This included checking for the proper names of parties and any misspellings, ensuring the accuracy of dates and addresses, checking that the correct filing fees were included, looking after the proper transmittal of all required documents and adhering to strict guidelines in effect for each county recorder in every state as to the filing of original lien release documentation. I was responsible for setting up an efficient system for overnight delivery of the lien release paperwork. It involved accuracy in making sure that the materials for each individual county within various states were sorted and placed in the proper mailing envelope with the loan numbers written accurately on the mailing envelope cover sheets. A filing system was maintained and strictly monitored so no file was missed or overlooked so as to miss compliance dates.

This independent contractor position places me in various law firms practicing in different legal specialties on a temporary basis. Various specialties include insurance defense, personal injury, family law, workers’ compensation as well as some corporate. The position held was Legal Assistant to the President of Cousineau McGuire. My duties consisted of heavy dictation (digital and tape), preparation of pleadings, correspondence and periodic litigation and budget reports to clients. Other responsibilities included scheduling appointments with the court and outside counsel, scheduling medical examinations and expert inspections, etc., as well as setting up interoffice committee meetings. Additional duties entailed trial preparation, typing and distribution of a weekly calendar, attorney time entry, file organization and maintenance, making travel arrangements and handling file billing and expenses. The law firm’s primary business consisted of handling litigation on behalf of major insurance companies and their insureds.
